  • A career in events management

Every day, there are events happening around us. From corporate events such as conferences or personal ones like weddings, events are part and parcel of life. When you are tasked with planning an event, it is normal to feel overwhelmed. This is when hiring a professional event manager becomes a practical and wise choice. Event management companies have become increasingly popular in the recent past. People have realised that it pays to hand over the task of event planning to professional event planners.

If you are someone that relishes planning, organising and meeting new people, then events management could be a career worth exploring further.

Perhaps you are the person in your family or particular group of friends who is always called upon to organise events. Or, maybe you find yourself wishing for an excuse to plan a big event! If so, then why not make money using the skills and passion that you already have? Event management is a multi-million pound industry.

What do event managers do?

Events managers are responsible for the planning and running of a wide range of events, including social, business and marketing events. As an event manager, you would be responsible for the whole project, from the actual initial stages of planning, through to being present on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly. This will certainly not be a job that allows you to hide behind the scenes!

How to become an event manager?

A professional qualification in events management will certainly be useful in building your knowledge and developing the skills you will require. This can be gained through studying at home in your own time, around your current commitments of work and family. Of course relevant work experience will also be vital to help you get into this career. So keep organising those family events!

Skills you will need?

In order to become an events manager, you should be someone who communicates well with people from all walks of life. If you find yourself being complimented on your people skills and excellent verbal abilities, then you are halfway there! You will also need to be good at problem-solving and have a creative approach to getting the results that you require. A bucket load of determination and a positive attitude are also very important.

E-Learning is fast becoming the most used method for Further Education, Event Management is one of the front runners in this also, with analysts forecast global event management software market to grow at a CAGR of 8.42% during the period 2016-2020.
