What does QLS stand for?

QLS stands for “Quality Licence Scheme”. QLS is part of the Skills and Education Group, a charitable organisation that unites education and skills-orientated organisations that share similar values and objectives. With more than 100 years of collective experience, the Skills and Education Group’s strategic partnerships create opportunities to inform, influence and represent the wider education and skills sector.

The Skills and Education Group also includes two nationally recognised awarding organisations; Skills and Education Group Awards and Skills and Education Group Access. Through their awarding organisations (namely ABC and Certa Awards), they have developed a reputation for providing high-quality qualifications and assessments for the education and skills sector. They are committed to helping employers, organisations and learners cultivate the relevant skills for learning, skills for employment, and skills for life.

What is the Quality License Scheme?

The Quality Licence Scheme recognises a provider’s commitment to high-quality courses in the non-regulated sector, by evaluating quality processes and endorsing an organisation. This demonstrates to the people you work with that there is a commitment to delivering a high quality of learning and learners are able to receive an endorsed Certificate of Achievement upon completion of their course. It is important to note that QLS courses lead to unregulated course outcomes. QLS courses are perfect for bridging the gap for when there are no subjects available on the RQF.

Why choose QLS?

Although QLS courses are not regulated by Ofqual, they are required to meet an extremely high quality standard which is externally set and regulated. QLS’ endorsement involves a robust and rigorous quality audit by external inspectors to ensure quality is consistently met. A regular review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process. We offer QLS-endorsed qualifications in a huge range of subjects, from business to forensic science!
