In this success story, we’ll take a look at Agáta’s journey, from needing to quickly gain a qualification in Maths to being accepted on her dream course: Medicine.

A recent Oxbridge graduate, Agáta has now completed her Maths A-Level, with a little help from Oxbridge. She is looking forward to studying Medicine and pursuing a career as a doctor.

But how did she find the course and what has she learnt along the way?

The First Step

Originally from Slovakia, Agáta began her high school journey there. Having spent a year in England, she returned to Slovakia during the pandemic.

To secure a place on a Medicine degree, she would first need to gain an A Level qualification in Mathematics. She knew she needed to find a distance learning provider that would enable her to complete the course quickly.

“I started studying in January,“ explains Agáta.

“As I needed my results in the summertime, I had to fast-track my studies. With Oxbridge, this was no problem.”

“My tutor was always there to help, explained everything very clearly.

“Materials from Oxbridge covered every topic I needed for successful completion of the course.“

Embracing the Challenges

While Agáta is described by family and friends as a hard-working, patient and determined individual, that doesn’t mean her course came without its challenges. However, for Agata, this was to be expected.

“To no surprise, the learning system in England was very different than the one in Slovakia, so it was challenging.

“It took me some time to learn how to study Maths properly.

“I was never someone who was good at Maths, as it was always the most challenging subject for me.“

Fortunately, Agáta found that the support available through tutors was more than sufficient enough to enable her to grasp the subject and pass her course.

“I was scared that without the teacher directly teaching me, I wouldn't be able to understand difficult concepts.

”However, my tutor Javeria was always very prompt to respond and thoroughly explain everything, so I can understand.

”Oxbridge materials explained all the topics very clearly, and my tutor was always very kind and encouraging. Along with an example, I‘ve got quizzes and links to other websites, so I can broaden my understanding.“

Practical Learning

Although Maths was never Agáta’s strongest subject, she still enjoyed her course. She also found that the mixed learning methods offered on Oxbridge’s course benefited her learning experience.

“I enjoyed Calculus the most, as it is probably the most practical and challenging topic.

Oxbridge always offers both written format and video explanation, which in the case of Calculus was crucial alongside the practice questions.“

Why Online Studying Worked Best for Agáta

Agáta spends her spare time tutoring Biology and Chemistry students, running, reading, and working in a coffee shop. So, she needed a study method that would allow her to fit her studying in around her other commitments.

“The biggest advantage of online studying is having the opportunity to shape my schedule around work, studying, sleep, and free time.“

She also made the most of tutor support being available on an unlimited basis at Oxbridge.

“When I did not understand a particular topic, I could just watch a helpful video or ask my tutor via email.“

The Key to Success

So, what’s Agáta’s advice for other aspiring students?

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions, make mistakes and learn from them.” In fact, she considers this to be one of the best ways to develop as a pupil.

A Great Future Ahead

As a result of achieving her A Level in Mathematics, Agáta has been accepted onto a course to study medicine in the Czech Republic. She’s excited to achieve her dream:

“I am very passionate about health and reaching all the goals I set for myself.”
