Study Hours

The guided learning hours for this course is 157 hours. However, there may be additional hours required for additional research and writing.

Study Method

Throughout this course, you may be expected to complete assignments, essays, research projects, posters, leaflets, presentations, PowerPoint presentations, video/audio recordings, work-based and practical learning sessions to meet the requirements of your course. This is a blended learning course, which means some of your study will be done at home, some will be done face to face with your tutor, and all of your practical assessment will take place at our Birmingham-based assessment centre.

Course Duration

You have up to a year to complete this course, this is usually ample time for learners, even with full-time jobs and other commitments. Don’t worry if you go over the year though, we can organise an extension to your course for an additional fee, which also extends your tutor support.

Assessment

Each unit is followed by a written tutor-marked assignment (TMA), which is submitted and then marked by your tutor. You will not be required to take an external exam.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this course, successful learners will receive an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction. This means that you will achieve a Level 2 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Your qualification is accredited by NCFE, one of the UK’s leading Ofqual approved awarding bodies in the health, fitness and active leisure sector. This qualification will provide level 2 entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). REPs are an independent public register which provides regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet National Occupational Standards agreed by the health and fitness industry. This will enable you to obtain public liability insurance to practice as a Gym Instructor.

Membership with REPs is valued and respected, enhancing employability, and is recognised in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

In addition to your course fee, you will need to pay £250 for each assessment day you attend. How many days you need to attend will be dependent on how you progress on the course, students normally need between 1-3 assessment dates.

You will have access to your personal tutor, via email and telephone, who will mark your assignments and guide you through the course. In addition, you will be supplied with a comprehensive Study Guide which will help you through the study and assessment process. Your personal tutor will be highly experienced in their subject area and qualified to teach.

You don’t need any prior skills in the subject area to start. However, as with all of our courses, we recommend a reasonable level of English reading and writing ability.
