What you will learn

Below is an outline of the course material you will study:

Unit 1 - Understanding roles, responsibilities, and relationships in education and training

In the first unit, you’ll look at the roles and responsibilities of a teacher, the learning and assessment cycle, and factors which might disrupt effective learning. You’ll also tackle issues of quality assurance, GDPR, accountability and compliance, and health and safety.

Unit 2 - Understanding and using Inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training

Next, you’ll discover tips for inclusive teaching and assessment, as well as how to set up an effective learning environment. You’ll look at how to motivate learners and use blended learning options, as well as study models such as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Bloom’s taxonomy.

Unit 3 - Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

In the third unit, you’ll explore the function of assessment in learning and development, looking at different assessment methods, key concepts and principles, and the responsibilities of the assessor. You’ll also compare the strengths and limitations of a range of assessment methods, learn about the standards and criteria that an assessor works to, and more.

Course Outcome

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully complete one mandatory unit and a minimum of two optional units. At the end of this course, you’ll be awarded a formal certificate of achievement from NCFE, the UK’s leading sector specialist in health, care and education.

Examinations and Assessments

This course is assessed in two ways:

Tutor-marked assignments (TMAs)

Each unit is followed by a tutor-marked assignment (TMA) which will be completed at the end of each module and marked by your personal tutor.

You will not be required to take an external exam with this course as your portfolio of evidence is internally assessed by us and externally quality assured by the awarding body. Your personal tutor will provide feedback on your work, and should there be any amendments required, they will outline what is needed for you to complete that assignment.

Observation

This course requires one observation in the form of a micro-teach (fancy name for a short lesson). This means somebody will need to observe you in practice, conducting a micro-teach. This could be in a workplace, a voluntary placement or here at Oxbridge.

We offer one complimentary observation for this course to any student on the UK mainland, which is enough to complete the course.

Entry Requirements

Given the nature of the course, the minimum entry age is 19. There are no other formal entry requirements for this course. However, it is recommended that you have an intermediate ability to read and write English.
