Matt Jones - Oxbridge Founder and MD, has been recognised for his positive impact on society by the British Citizen Awards (BCA) this week for his services and devotion to education.
The British Citizen Award is widely viewed as the nation’s way of recognising extraordinary, everyday people for their exceptional endeavours and is representative of today’s multicultural Britain.
Matt has helped thousands of people gain skills and qualifications that traditional education may have overlooked. Despite his favourable results of 98% A-Level pass rate, of which 69% achieve A or A+, the government overlooks online learning. So, he has been self-funding bursaries and, during the pandemic, donated over £100,000 of courses to those in need. It worked – many of these students went forward to regain employment.
Over the years, Matt’s persistence and dedication to making waves in the education sector have led to him being presented with a host of awards including the IoD Director of the Year, Leadership Awards and Learning Technologies Gold Award, to name a few. Matt has promoted, funded and created new and innovative ways of learning which have been instrumental in pushing for higher standards, promoting equality and use of tech to make education more accessible to students across the world.
The Honours are a benchmark against which individuals will be able to measure their standing in the community; the respect with which they are held by others; and benefit from recognition for their endeavour. All recipients will also be featured on The British Citizen Award Roll of Honour.
Although he'd never say it himself, we at Oxbridge believe that Matt is a truly deserving candidate for this honour, as he has made such a difference to so many people. He attended a medal presentation at the Palace of Westminster on Thursday 7th July 2022.
Matt commented:
“I am delighted to be honoured with a BCA. Although, as I am sure is true with the rest of this Summer’s honour roll, none of us feels like we deserve such an honour. We just do what we do, and try to make a difference. I am very grateful to the British Citizen Awards for considering me. I will use this as my rocket fuel to continue to help as many people as possible, gain the highest quality education that they can.”
