NCFE CACHE qualifications are a result of the merger between NCFE and Cache in 2015. Now a leading provider of educational services and a not-for-profit organisation with a strong heritage in learning, it has remained at the forefront of technical and vocational education for over 170 years.

CACHE (the Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education) is the UK’s leading sector specialist in health, care and education and is now a trademark owned by NCFE. CACHE has developed qualifications of excellence for over 70 years and with more than 1,000 UK-based and overseas delivery partners.

CACHE Qualifications and history

Cache was first established in 1945 by the Ministry of Health under the name of the National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB). In 1947, the NNEB set the syllabus for their first national exam. Moving on to 1994, the NNEB merged with the Council for Early Years Awards to form CACHE, before also incorporating the National Association for Maternal and Child Welfare in 2001. Finally, in 2015, CACHE became part of NCFE, a fellow accreditation partner sharing CACHE’s passion and reputation for educational excellence.
