This course will prepare you with a more functional and successful leadership style, providing you with skills needed to manage and lead a team including decision making, training, coaching, managing resources and much more.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Principles of team leading (Mandatory)

This unit provides learners with an understanding of leadership styles in
organisations. Learners will develop knowledge of team dynamics and
the techniques used to manage the work of teams. Learners will also
gain an appreciation of the impact of change management and how a
motivated team affects an organisation.

Unit 2 - Understand business (Mandatory)

This unit equips learners with an understanding of organisational
structures and the business environment. Learners will also gain
knowledge of business reporting within an organisation.

This unit equips learners with an understanding of the principles and
techniques of work-related communication both verbally and in writing.
Learners will also develop the knowledge of a range of documents
required for different types of meetings in a business environment.

Unit 4 - Understand how to manage performance and conflict in the workplace

This unit enables learners to develop knowledge of team performance
management through benchmarking. Learners will develop knowledge of
managing individual underperformance and conflict in the workplace.

Unit 5 - Understand customers

This unit provides learners with an understanding of the different types of
customers. Learners will understand the relationship between good
customer service and customer loyalty and how this affects the
organisation in terms of reputation and image.

Unit 6 - Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues

This unit provides learners with an understanding of the principles of
effective team working. Learners will be able to identify what is required
to develop working relationships with other teams and departments.

Unit 7 - Understand health and safety procedures in the workplace

This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of individual
health and safety responsibilities and laws affecting the workplace.

Unit 8 - Understand how to develop and deliver a presentation

This unit equips learners with the principles underpinning the
development and delivery of presentations. Learners will describe the
advantages and limitations of various forms of media. Learners will also
describe factors affecting contingency plans and different methods of
evaluating presentations.

Unit 9 - Understand personal development

This unit aims to give learners an understanding of the role of a team
leader and how to plan for personal development.

Course Outcome

At the end of this course, you’ll receive an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading (603/3883/0). These training courses have been designed specifically to meet the needs of learners who prefer to study from home. 

How is this course assessed or examined?

To be awarded the L2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading, learners are required to successfully complete 3 mandatory units and 5 other selected units

Assessment methods are varied and may include assignments, essays, research projects, presentations, video/audio recordings, and practical learning sessions to meet the requirements of your course. This information will be included in your study pack detailing exactly what you need to do to accomplish your goals as a student.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, it is recommended that you have an intermediate ability to read and write English. There is a minimum study age of 16.

It may be helpful if learners have already achieved a Level 1 qualification.

How much do exams cost?

Many of our courses do not require exams however, A-levels, GCSEs and some other courses do require exams to complete the qualification. Exam fees are additional to the cost of the course and prices vary depending on the course and where you sit them – find out more.

Planning on studying A-levels or GCSEs with us? We can add your exams during enrolment and blend them into your monthly payment plan if you wish. If you’re not ready to book your exam(s) yet, you can book them at a later date – all of the information is available on MyOxbridge under NEAS and Exams.
