This first module introduces you to the characteristics of entrepreneurs and the skills they need to establish a new technology business. You’ll also cover topics such as planning, marketing, and finance.

Level 5, Unit 2: Network security
This module enables you to build your knowledge of network security issues and the processes involved in the detection and prevention of common security incidents.

Level 5, Unit 3: C#.NET Programming
You’ll be introduced to the concepts and principles of ASP.NET programming using C#. From here, you’ll be confident in creating dynamic web pages in using various programming techniques.

Level 5, Unit 4: System Administration
You’ll gain the knowledge you need for system administration, covering aspects including Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) servers, backup policies, application management, and other utilities and tools available to programmers.

Level 5, Unit 5: Content Management Systems
Develop your knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and how these are used in the creation of engaging digital content. From here, you’ll understand various CMS roles and how to carry out content migration activities as needed.

Level 5, Unit 6: Web design
In this final module, you’ll understand how to use programs such as JavaScript (JS) programming language and Adobe Dreamweaver to create dynamic web pages with a multitude of capabilities.

Course Outcome
This combined Level 4 and 5 combined diploma in web design and IT is the equivalent to the first two years of undergraduate study. Upon completing the Level 5 modules, you’ll have the opportunity to complete your final year on a university campus or through distance learning.
How is this course assessed or examined?
This course is made up of a total of 16 modules; 10 are covered at Level 4 with the remaining six at Level 5. You’ll be assessed based on six written assignments at each level, of approximately 2 000 – 3 000 words in length.
The Level 4 modules and assignments of this course are equivalent to the first year of a university degree and the Level 5 modules and assignments are equivalent to the second year of a university degree. Completing this course gives you the opportunity to top up your course with the final year at a UK university.
Entry requirements
To enrol on the Level 4 course, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a full secondary education. Before enrolling in level 5, you must complete level 4.
