Why study creative writing online?

Creative writing is made out to be an effortless thing to do if you’ve got the talent, but there’s certainly a lot of practice that goes into writing a quality story that sells.

And once you’ve managed to complete a draft, the ability to proofread it yourself will save you a decent amount of money and ensure you keep full creative control.

How can I become a writer?

From journalism and copywriting (both within a company setting or in a freelance capacity) to fiction and screenwriting, making a living as a writer is an attainable goal.

To reach a position where you’re paid to write, it’s helpful to have a diverse portfolio to showcase your ability. This could take the form of a personal blog that covers various topics in a range of structures.

Maybe you have a knack for getting to the juicy details of a news story, or perhaps there’s a screenplay in you that the world needs to know about. Either way, the more bows you can add to your quiver, the more employable you’ll look, which is where our online writing and journalism courses come in.

From creative writing to freelance journalism, we can help your writing leap off the page and onto the stage, screen, or printing press, whatever your goals and aspirations are.

Penny

STEM and History of Art

Marine biology, jellyfish conservationist, hairdresser, fitness instructor… I have an eclectic backstory! Art is my passion and one of my proudest moments was achieving my Masters in Fine Art. I then requalified as an Art teacher to share my knowledge with my students. For most of my career, I’ve supported vulnerable students with additional needs such as SEMH and SEN.

With so much conflicting information about home learning it was wonderful to have some clear help and advise from Lilly I am now on the right course for me. Lilly went out of her way and was (and still is as I’ve had a wobble) kind, patience and offered lots of reassurance. Looking forward to seeing how the course progresses Thank you Lilly and Oxbridge :)

Success! It’s been great.

I have successfully completed my life coaching course! I wasn’t sure how learning with Oxbridge would work for me at the start but it has been amazing. I have learnt so much, despite being social work and mediation qualified. The learning has not duplicated my existing skills and I am already putting new skills into use, especially time management. My tutor, Kelly Pearson, has been fabulous. She has been supportive, knowledgeable in the subject area and approachable. Despite never meeting her, I feel I have been able to develop a good rapport with her and comfortable to seek support when needed. I am now waiting for my certification in order to begin the accreditation process. Already, I have planned my next steps and am building my website etc. to launch my next chapter. Without the training and focus I have had by completing the course, I would still be drifting with a vague plan of “ what next” in my career path. As long as you are self motivated to learn and happy to put effort in, Oxbridge is a great platform to progress with.

This Course has been a life-changer
trustpilot rating
This Course has been a game-changer. After a false start I re-enrolled and have just completed Level 3 Diploma in Creative Writing achieving an average mark of 95%. This was all about learning, rather than simply getting a Certificate, so I tackled it as if it were a Degree. My final assignment turned into a novella, which compared to some of my earlier writings showed just how much my skills, style, and "writers voice" as Dr Roger calls it has grown and matured. Course materials are varied and interesting, and no issues at all with the administrative support provided, and everyone very helpful and efficient. My tutor, Dr. Roger Cottrell has been a brilliant mentor and has given me so much belief and confidence in my ability as a writer. I cannot thank him enough. To the extent that I AM going to write a thriller novel, something previously I would have never thought I could possibly do. Dr. Roger and I just "clicked", and he has had a huge impact in my growth as a writer. You will be very blessed if you enrol and have him as your tutor. I now happily describe myself as an "Aspiring Writer" but will drop the "Aspiring" when I am paid for something I have written ;) . For the moment it is all for the love of it, and the learning, and we never stop learning, do we?

I have been studying with Oxbridge for…
trustpilot rating
I have been studying with Oxbridge for over 2 years, on 3 different courses. Each time they have been great. My tutors (Had 4 all in all for different courses) have been great, quick to reply and very encouraging and motivational. I have often found it difficult to study continuously as i do not live in the UK full time and i suffer with anxiety and depression and didn't have a traditional secondary schooling. They have always been supportive and made allowances for me whenever required, would always choose Oxbridge and would always recommend them.
