Ideal for beginners as well as people with some previous business knowledge, this Level 3 HR course and diploma course is ideal whether you’re set on a vocational pathway, or looking to pursue higher education such as an A-level or degree in business studies.

NCFE Level 3 HR Diploma – the syllabus in brief

On this RQF diploma in human resources, you’ll delve into business culture and responsibilities, focusing on crucial topics such as sustainability and maintaining staff morale. You’ll also examine more general business issues like how to deliver excellent customer service, as well as monitor and review performance for continuous improvement. You’ll gain a comprehensive insight into recruitment and the selection process, key aspects of employment law, and human resource management in business.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Business Culture and Responsibilities

This unit will provide you with the skills needed to support sustainability in a business environment, understanding why businesses work in a sustainable way, and how technology can be used to help this. Additionally, you’ll gain an understanding of the importance of diversity within the workplace, including the legal and organisational guidelines that exist to govern this. Lastly, you’ll explore how to maintain security and confidentiality in the workplace.

Unit 2 - Deliver Customer Service in a Business Environment

Finding ways to bring in new customers and keep a business thriving is the absolute top priority for many companies. This unit is designed to equip you with effective customer service skills to exceed customer expectations by going the extra mile, deliver effective service to a wide range of customers, and monitor and review customer service for continuous improvement.

Unit 3 - Produce Documents in a Business Environment

Companies use documents to communicate, transact business and analyse their productivity. In this unit, you’ll become familiar with a range of different document types and formats. By the end, you’ll be able to research content for, and produce a range of documents that meet, varying requirements.

Unit 4 - Solve Problems in a Business Environment

Every business has its problems, and the difference between a successful and failure is the way problems are dealt with as they arise. In this unit, you’ll gain the skills required to identify a solution to a business problem, and develop a plan to solve it. You’ll also be able to evaluate the success of your plan, to ensure the method chosen was the correct one.

Unit 5 - Communicate in a Business Environment

Great internal and external communication is a cornerstone of every successful business. This unit will equip you with the skills to communicate successfully both verbally and in writing, evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your communication, and develop a plan to improve it when necessary.

Unit 6 - Manage and Improve Own Performance in a Business Environment

In a business environment, every task must be completed within an agreed timescale. In the final unit, you’ll learn how to plan and manage your work, so you never miss a deadline. You’ll also study the importance of behaviour and attitude, and discover how to improve your own performance.

Unit 7 - Recruitment and Selection in Business

In unit seven, you’ll examine the processes involved in recruitment planning, and the implications of the regulatory framework for the process of recruitment and selection. You’ll also discover how to prepare documentation involved in the selection and recruitment process and you will participate in a selection interview.

Unit 8 - Aspects of Employment Law

There are a number of different types of employment contract, and if you work in HR, you’ll have to be familiar with all of them. This unit provides you with an overview of all the different types, as well as the impact of employment legislation. You’ll also learn the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers, and understand how and when contracts of employment are terminated.

Unit 9 - Human Resource Management in Business

The final unit will equip you with knowledge of the factors involved in human resource planning in organisations, and how organisations motivate employees. You’ll also gain an understanding of how to gain committed employee cooperation, along with the process of managing employee performance at work.

Entry requirements

While there are no strict entry requirements for this level three Diploma in Skills for Business: Human Resources, it is strongly recommended that you have the ability to effectively read and write in English.

How much do exams cost?

Many of our courses do not require exams however, A-levels, GCSEs and some other courses do require exams to complete the qualification. Exam fees are additional to the cost of the course and prices vary depending on the course and where you sit them – find out more.
