What you'll learn
In the first unit, you’ll learn exactly what CBT is, learn its history, how it helps clients, as well as who offers CBT services in the UK.
In this unit, you’ll learn exactly what happens during a CBT session, the skills you’ll need to be a successful CBT therapist, as well as the importance of boundaries and safeguarding.
In the third unit, you’ll discover ways to help patients break the cycle of negative thinking. You’ll learn about emotions, and discover the ways in which they can impact our health. You’ll explore various theories of emotion, including James Lange theory and Cannon-Bard theory.
Next, you’ll look at the cycle of awareness, diving into the Gestalt theory and Socratic questioning. You’ll then learn how you can help clients boost their motivation, and how activity scheduling can help with anxiety and depression.
In the fifth unit, you’ll learn about psychiatric diagnoses such as anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, agoraphobia, and depression. You’ll also learn about emotional and psychological syndromes which can benefit from CBT, such as imposter syndrome and self-sabotage.
In this unit, you’ll study guided self-help, happiness and resilience, how food can influence the way we feel, negative thought processes, and more.
Next, you’ll examine anxiety and phobias, and the way in which they can be managed using techniques such as visualisation and controlled breathing. You’ll also study positivity and relaxation, learning how mindfulness-based meditation can help a client relieve their stress.
In the final unit, you’ll learn everything you need to know about setting up your own business as a CBT therapist, as well as examine two compelling case studies.
