The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) qualification is the only assessors qualification that will enable you to work as a fully qualified assessor. This is the full version of the TAQA course. Upon successful completion of this CAVA qualification, you will become a qualified assessor. This course replaces the old A1 / A2 and D32 / 33 assessor qualifications.
This Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in a workshop, classroom or other training environments. This is a transferable qualification to any sector that you have occupational competence in. This assessors award provides a national benchmark for best practice in assessing.
This assessors award is ideal for students who would like to be fully qualified assessors for learners in either the classroom and/or the work environment. This qualification will enable you to assess vocational competencies in a wide range of qualifications such as:
By studying this course you will:
One benefit of choosing Oxbridge to study your CAVA qualification is we can potentially provide you with learners to assess. This is something that can be discussed with our one of our specialist student support advisers. However, your occupational competence and courses we offer are deciding factors in finding the right learners for you to assess.
CACHE stands for the Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education, and are the leading specialist Awarding Organisation for the Care and Education Sector.
It takes around 85 hours to complete the learning for this course, which is around 30 minutes per day for 6 months. The total qualification time is 150 hours.
You have up to a year to complete this course and we have included a suggested number of study hours. This is usually ample time for learners, even with full-time jobs and other commitments. Don’t worry if you go over the year though, we can organise an extension to your course for a small fee, which also extends your tutor support.
The course is specially designed for study by distance learning. Throughout the course, there will be self-assessment questions, and tutor marked assignments (TMAs), to enable you to monitor your progress.
Each unit is followed by a written tutor marked assignment (TMA), which is submitted and then marked by your tutor. You will not be required to take an external exam.
Your portfolio of evidence is internally assessed and externally quality assured. This is a regulated qualification, in which staff involved in the assessment must:

Those who undertake this unit will have a better understanding of the function of assessment. A key focus of the unit is to involve the learners in the assessment process so they see it as an integral part of their learning experience.
This is a performance unit for anyone who assesses in the work environment using methods such as observations, questions and examining products of work.
The aim of this unit is to assess the trainee Assessor’s performance in assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (eg workshops, classrooms or other training environments), and in any other environment using methods such as assignments, projects, simulations and tests.
You will have access to your personal tutor, via email and telephone, who will mark your assignments and guide you through the course. In addition, you will be supplied with a comprehensive Study Guide which will help you through the study and assessment process. Your personal tutor will be highly experienced in their subject area and qualified to teach.
You don’t need any prior skills in the subject area to start. However, as with all of our courses, we recommend a reasonable level of English reading and writing ability.
We provide all the specially written learning materials you require to study this course at home. The course fee also includes tutor support for 12 months.

Very speedy replies and results, very positive and encouraging especially with this being such a big step for me moving out of my comfort zone
I have learned so much from this CAVA course. Especially how to be an independent learner. I think that distance learning gives that advantage.
Definitely, the best Distance learning organisation that I have ever come across, without a shadow of a doubt. I was shopping around for the CAVA and came across many different providers. Firstly I found the Oxbridge Home learning website easy to navigate with a fresh modern design. The information about the courses is very well presented and easy to digest. The course information, awarding body, course structure, unit info, requirements, and fees are all well presented. I knew what course I wanted and it was the Oxbridge site that really caught my eye. I decided that I was going to enrol with them and this process couldn’t have been smoother. The financing application was quick, efficient, and transparent.
