What qualification is CeMAP equivalent to?

CeMAP (Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice) is an RQF “Level 3 qualification”, awarded by the London Institute of Banking & Finance. This means CeMAP can also be attained by completing an alternative Level 3 mortgage qualification, followed by one additional module – Advanced Mortgage Advice (AMA).

What’s the difference between a mortgage advisor and mortgage broker?

There’s essentially no difference between a mortgage advisor and a mortgage broker. While the specifics of the job descriptions may vary, the primary function of both mortgage advisors and mortgage brokers is the same – to find customers the right mortgage for their circumstances.

How long does it take to gain a CeMAP qualification?

What is CeMAP?

CeMAP stands for Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice. It’s a mortgage advisor qualification and certification that’s approved by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and is widely requested by employers in the financial industry. In short, it’s the UK’s “industry standard” mortgage advisor qualification, and a must-have for those looking to enter the industry.

What finance courses should I take?

That depends on your current training and where you want your career to take you. For example, if you don’t have any financial qualifications, we’d suggest studying an A-level in economics.

Once you’ve gained a solid foundation, you can progress onto more specialised courses such as business finance.

One of our most popular finance-related courses is the CeMap mortgage advisor course, specifically designed for individuals entirely new to the mortgage industry. Upon completing the course, you’ll receive a ‘licence to practice’ thanks to the course’s FCA accreditation.

If you don’t quite know which course is right for you, speak to one of our learning advisers, who would be happy to help.

How can I self-study to be a mortgage adviser?

There are multiple ways to gain a finance-related qualification; however, more and more people are drawn to self-study. This avenue gives you much more control over your learning. You don’t have to schedule your work and personal life around attending a brick and mortar school or be held back by others who aren’t picking things up as quickly as you.

The easiest way to self-study a finance course is to do it online. That way, you have 24-hour access to high-quality learning materials at any time or place and can schedule a virtual one-to-one whenever you require additional help or support.

Is a career in finance for me?

If you’re blessed with the ability to analyse numbers, have high organisational skills and can often see the bigger picture where others fail, then a career in finance is for you.

Whether it’s planning for retirement or trying to budget and save for a new home, many people get frazzled when it comes to their finances. Put your skills and passion to good use for a rewarding career.

from the very first call Oxbridge looked after me
trustpilot rating
I was really nervous about re-entering the world of learning, it had been a while and i was secure in my job but ultimately unhappy and felt i could do more. I had read lots of mixed reviews from lots of college and wasnt really sure of what to do, or what was eve the right course for me. All i want to say is that i really need not have been worried, right from the very first call Oxbridge looked after me, they gave me lots of finance options and i picked the one most suited to me. The course was explained in detail and the information was then sent to me so i could read it at my leisure. I asked for a call back and this happened on time (i work shifts so it needed to be at a convenient time) i wasnt bombarded wth calls like i was from a couple of other colleges. I had a few questions and these were anwered clearly and consisely, there was no pressure which was lovely. I enrolled, received my logins that day with clear instructions on what to do next, admittedly i didnt start straight away but i completed the course with the help of my tutors Carol and Sarah in less than 8 Months i rrally am delighted! My support was more than good, it was excellent, my questions were answered promptly and never with judgement, no matter how silly they may have been. My feedback was thorough and constructive and made me aware of areas i needed to improve upon, and using the online system improved my IT skills too. I also recently enrolled on their jobready package, this has really helped with re-writing my CV, with my new qualification and provided me with some really good interview knowledge and this package was free!! Oxbridge helped me to stay motivated, they helped me get the qualification i needed and wanted, the service was excellent from start to finish and the added extras throughout were so helpful. Thank you so much for all you have done for me and my family (we love our mugs too) I have just erolled on another course and i am very excited to start this to add to my portfolio of new qualifications. To anyone thinking of enrolling, my advice do it!!! but remember its like anything you have to do it to get the benefit of it. I did and i am so glad i did. Thank you all again for being so great, helpful and accomodating in some really dark times, you have provided me with everything i need to get the career i really want. Wishing you a Happy New Year!

Highly recommend for anyone wishing to return to education/A wonderful experience.
trustpilot rating
I have recently studied 3 A levels with Oxbridge for the June 2022 exam cycle; English literature, history, and sociology. I achieved A*s in English and Sociology and an A in History. The experience was immensely rewarding and I would recommend Oxbridge to anyone considering returning to education. Special thanks to Zara Lampey and Judith Dixon in particular. Both gave me constant support along with advice I will take with me to uni and beyond.

Incredible customer Service
trustpilot rating
I had a difficult time with the enrollment process (all entirely down to me and issues on my end). However, when I called the team at Oxbridge, I spoke to an individual named Ellie, who is without a shadow of doubt, one of the best customer service people I have ever been served by. I received positive conversation, had my every question dealt with and sorted in a highly professional manner and was smiling throughout. I had to make several calls and each time specifically asked to speak with her. She is a credit to the institution.

Absoutely outstanding college
trustpilot rating
Absoutely outstanding college! Always knew what to do even in times when everyone was so unsure. I am very grateful. I enrolled onto 5 GCSE's , I got my results through my tutors and i was over the moon with them. I have just re-enrolled onto 3 a-levels so i can persue my ambition to be a bio-medical scientist. Once again i was talked through every details of all 3 a-levels, loads of information given about how to and where to book exams and costs. This was even offered to be split payments for me too , and this is something i went with as i wont notice the fees so much monthly. Yes, i could have gone to college but college doesnt suit my needs at the moment. My tutor support on my GCSES was AMAZING, never left waiting for long for questions or for marking. Even when my tutor/s were on holiday there was someone there to cover and there is no half terms or 6 weeks summer holidays that you have to plan for. I had quite a few phone calls, mainly just to get clarity on a few units, and i had a few zoom calls which were great - so easy. Thank you Oxbridge and specifically my tutors, James, Ollie, Sarah and May. I hope to get you at a-level if possible. And thank you to my advisor for helping me out in every aspect. Love you guys.

The best course provider!!
trustpilot rating
The best course provider!!! I have completed my childcare level 3 in early years course with Oxbridge. I had a terrible experience and was left in a mess with another course provider. When I joined with Oxbridge I was reassured by all the lovely tutors I was in contact with. The course went smoothly and I enjoyed doing my work because I felt I was learning something this time round. Thank you to Lisa and Faye who have been so supportive and the best tutors. I would recommend Oxbridge to everyone and I cannot wait to start another course 😊

Instant and reassuring reponses in troubled times
trustpilot rating
Being a student on the level 3 (NCFE CACHE) Counselling Certificate offered by Oxbridge. the Corona-virus pandemic with its associated government measures began about half way through my alloted study period to complete the certificate. This had implications for me, as practice videos with fellow students (or feasible helpers) were required as part of the course work. The national measures against meeting in other people's homes, travel restrictions, and the closure of my own employers' offices all repeatedly combined to thwart my attempts to produce the videos. Oxbridge student services were more than reasonable, and always helpful, in helping me overcome these obstacles. This included twice extending the course deadline, and being generally reassuring and positive. Responses to my concerns were given almost immediately. In particular I must mention the assistance, reassurance, and advice given myself by Stacey Ryan (Oxbridge student services centre director).
