How can I self-study to be a mortgage adviser?

There are multiple ways to gain a finance-related qualification; however, more and more people are drawn to self-study. This avenue gives you much more control over your learning. You don’t have to schedule your work and personal life around attending a brick and mortar school or be held back by others who aren’t picking things up as quickly as you.

The easiest way to self-study a finance course is to do it online. That way, you have 24-hour access to high-quality learning materials at any time or place and can schedule a virtual one-to-one whenever you require additional help or support.

What’s the difference between a mortgage advisor and mortgage broker?

What finance courses should I take?

That depends on your current training and where you want your career to take you. For example, if you don’t have any financial qualifications, we’d suggest studying an A-level in economics.

Once you’ve gained a solid foundation, you can progress onto more specialised courses such as business finance.

One of our most popular finance-related courses is the CeMap mortgage advisor course, specifically designed for individuals entirely new to the mortgage industry. Upon completing the course, you’ll receive a ‘licence to practice’ thanks to the course’s FCA accreditation.

If you don’t quite know which course is right for you, speak to one of our learning advisers, who would be happy to help.
