Throughout this course, you may be expected to complete assignments, essays, research projects, posters, leaflets, presentations, PowerPoint presentations, video/audio recordings, work-based and practical learning sessions to meet the requirements of your course. This is a blended learning course, which means some of your study will be done at home, some will be done face to face with your tutor, and all of your practical assessment will take place at our Birmingham-based assessment centre. All information about your course will be included in your study pack detailing exactly what you need to do to accomplish your goals as a student.

This course is assessed in three different ways: multiple-choice examinations, practical assessments and a portfolio which you work on during your course. Successful completion of all three units must be achieved for the full qualification.
Attending assessment days is a vital part of passing this Active IQ qualification. On the assessment day, you will complete the your multiple-choice examinations under the supervision of your course tutor. Our practical days run on an “on demand” basis in small groups. You may have to wait a short time while we fill the other practical spaces. Our assessment centre is based in Birmingham. How many times you’ll need to come to our assessment centre in Birmingham will relate to how well you progress on your course. Each assessment day you attend will cost £100.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive an ActiveIQ Level 2 Certificate in Leading Health-Related Activity Sessions (QCF). This means that you will achieve a Level 2 qualification on The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Your qualification is accredited by Active IQ, one of the UK’s leading Ofqual approved awarding bodies in the health, fitness and active leisure sector. This qualification will provide level 2 entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). REPs are an independent public register which provides regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet National Occupational Standards agreed by the health and fitness industry. This will enable you to obtain public liability insurance to practice as a Gym Instructor.
Membership with REPs is valued and respected, enhancing employability, and is recognised in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
You will have access to your personal tutor, via email and telephone, who will mark your assignments and guide you through the course. In addition, you will be supplied with a comprehensive Study Guide which will help you through the study and assessment process. Your personal tutor will be highly experienced in their subject area and qualified to teach.
You don’t need any prior skills in the subject area to start. However, as with all of our courses, we recommend a reasonable level of English reading and writing ability.
