Overview

Sometimes, our hands do all the talking, and beautiful nails are a sure-fire way to make a great first impression. Acrylics are the strongest, most versatile type of extension you can offer clients, and also one of the most popular choices in any nail salon. Ideal for beginners or experienced technicians, on this comprehensive course, you’ll master the design, blending and maintenance of acrylics while exploring the latest trends in aesthetics that your clients, friends, and family will love!

Taught through a series of in-depth units complete with video tutorials, this course is structured to ensure you begin by mastering the foundational skills all beauty therapists need. This makes it ideal for beginners, as well as more seasoned nail techs! After you’ve gained your certificate, you’ll be able to apply for professional insurance, and you’ll also have the support and guidance of industry professionals as you study.

What will I learn?

  • How run your own business, interact with clients, and promote your services
  • Health and safety legislation, and the types of insurance you’ll need
  • Skin types, diseases, and disorders
  • The anatomy and physiology of the nail, skin, and muscular system
  • How to master the art of tip application, as well as the products you’ll need
  • Acrylic application, as well as maintenance, infill, and removals
  • The correct aftercare advice to give to your clients.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Foundation

In the opening unit, you’ll cover health and safety legislation, how to safely prepare your treatment area, and how to work hygienically. You’ll also cover just about everything you need to know to successfully open and run your own beauty business, such as how to communicate effectively with your clients, and how to market yourself.

Unit 2 - Anatomy and Physiology - Nails

In unit two, you’ll delve into the structure of the nail, bones and the muscular system, different skin types, skin structure, and more.

Unit 3 - Nail and Skin Healthcare

Next, you’ll learn about skin and nail diseases and disorders. These are common contraindications for nail treatments, so it’s important you’re able to recognise them.

Unit 4 - Tip Application

Moving on, you’ll discover how to prepare for tip application, the products you’ll need, and how to complete the treatment.

Unit 5 - Acrylic

Unit five is all about acrylics! You’ll discover the secrets to perfect application, how to maintain the look, as well as the aftercare advice you should give to clients.

I cannot express how pleased I am with Oxbridge Home Learning. I am one of those people who does not like to ask for favours or help unless I really need to. My tutor Kerry Ore is one of those people who will support you from start to finish, and exceptional in reading people. She has been my rock and I appreciate her honesty and because she cares for her students to do the best and pushes them so they achieve their best. This is my first course with Oxbridge, but I can assure you it won't be the last. If I could, I would have given them 10 stars. Thank you for everything, Kerry and Oxbridge people 😊🌟👌 I have received my certificate today (7th September) and it made my day as it made it real that I am now qualified in something I have always wanted to be. It has opened new doors for me and I am so looking forward to open those doors with the help of the Oxbridge. Thank you for everything.

With so much conflicting information about home learning it was wonderful to have some clear help and advise from Lilly I am now on the right course for me. Lilly went out of her way and was (and still is as I’ve had a wobble) kind, patience and offered lots of reassurance. Looking forward to seeing how the course progresses Thank you Lilly and Oxbridge :)

The best course provider!!
trustpilot rating
The best course provider!!! I have completed my childcare level 3 in early years course with Oxbridge. I had a terrible experience and was left in a mess with another course provider. When I joined with Oxbridge I was reassured by all the lovely tutors I was in contact with. The course went smoothly and I enjoyed doing my work because I felt I was learning something this time round. Thank you to Lisa and Faye who have been so supportive and the best tutors. I would recommend Oxbridge to everyone and I cannot wait to start another course 😊

Started my course about 8 weeks ago. The joining was very straightforward and quick to get started. I paid on a Friday and was up qnd running by Sunday. I am absolutely loving the course (history A level). The tutor has been super. Gets back to all my queries really quickly, she is really positive and supportive and making sure I'm staying on track. I think it can be easy to skip.things or over delve where not necessary so I contact her quite a bit and I can't fault her supportiveness. I really wanted to go to a college but needed flexibility and I'm enjoying and learning so much on this course. Would definitely recommend. Though don't bother with student card. I looked into it and doesn't seem all that good
