We are seeking a diligent, proactive developer to join our team to work on our website and online learning platform.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career developer to join a growing, award-winning college and contribute to new developments and innovative projects.

With some commercial experience under your belt you will be working on our website as well as new and existing and new projects alongside the senior developer, designer and marketing team.

The main areas of responsibility as part of your role will include:

  • Maintaining and developing the company website
  • Developing bespoke interactive features for the website
  • Developing our e-learning platform (Moodle)
  • Helping to develop integrations between our CRM and e-learning platform as well as integrations with third parties.

We see the role as possibly leaning towards backend technologies (PHP), but there would be a mix of skills required across front end and back end technologies.

The college is a leader and fast growing within the distance learning sector. We have an excellent reputation with our students and have received multiple industry awards for excellence. We foresee considerable growth for the business in 2022 and this is a great opportunity to join us at a pivotal time for the college.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to grow their skillset and put their own mark on their work, in a collaborative and supportive environment.

This is a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking and growing company where employees are recognised for their effort and skills, and deliver an outstanding distance learning experience to the thousands of students studying with us.

Essential Requirements

  • HTML/CSS
  • Knowledge of responsive web page design
  • PHP (7.0+)
  • JavaScript
  • Git/Source control
  • Proactive attitude to work
  • Strong communication skills

Desirable

  • WordPress
  • CSS Framework experience (TailwindCSS, Bootstrap, Bulma or similar)
  • Experience of using Moodle and/or other learning platforms or PHP frameworks
  • Knowledge of using REST APIs

If you do not meet all requirements, but believe you might still be suited to this role then please get in touch. The college seeks to employ people that fit the culture and ethos of the business above all else (we really are a lovely bunch of people to work with, even if we do say so ourselves!), and missing a skill might not necessarily exclude you from applying.

This role is office based. We offer flexible hours (to help you avoid the worst of the commute!).

We are...

  • a leader in the Ed-Tech sector
  • forward-thinking: we use a modern tech stack: TailwindCSS, Webpack, AlpineJS - no jQuery if we can help it!
  • values driven
  • a company that encourages ideas from all team members, across the business
  • based in Aston, Birmingham with good transport links and car parking available on site

We...

  • provide 20/days a year holiday (plus public holidays)
  • have a relaxed dress code
  • have a company pension scheme
  • have a private healthcare scheme
  • have an inclusive working environment
  • ensure developers have modern computers with the software/tools they need to work (Mac or Windows is fine), dual monitor if required.
  • flexible working hours
  • have sent company employees to Las Vegas (yes, the one in America!) for hitting our extended company targets and have treats for hitting monthly targets (pizza, doughnuts etc)

The company is an equal opportunities employer. Any applicant must be able to work in the UK.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to supply details of any work they have done previously or content that might be relevant with their application: (e.g. personal website, portfolio, GitHub profile, CodePen profile etc).
