Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) is a not-for-profit organisation and the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for learners worldwide. They design and deliver assessments to over 8 million learners in over 170 countries, ensuring their assessments are always fair, have sound ethical underpinning, and operate according to the highest technical standards.

The History of CAIE

Over 150 years ago, The University of Cambridge formed the ‘Local Examinations Syndicate’, now known as Cambridge Assessment. Its aim was simple: to raise standards in education through exam administration. In 1998, the syndicate created a new structure, leading to the establishment of three exam boards:

In 2005, the syndicate adopted the brand name ‘Cambridge Assessment'. Cambridge Assessment operates the University’s three exam boards, as well as carries out cutting-edge and operational research in assessment in education.

Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) is the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 5 to 19-year-olds.
